Science against Politics

I believe science is reaching a point where it will surpass the government in terms of control over how the world functions. Governments have been running the world for the last few thousand years and have dictated the day to day lives for nearly everyone worldwide. Monarchies controlled its subjects through force in the beginning in order to provide a stable kingdom and prevent outside invaders from killing all the citizens. Just before the 1800 century, democracy was introduced globally to guide people with strict laws proposed by the citizens. The system of governments and politics has worked (almost) perfectly in guiding mankind in a progressive state where generation after generation is improving and people are living better and longer lives statistically. There seems to be a shift occurring recently though where more and more people are putting their trust into science more so than what politicians say. Technological advancements are being introduced at an exponential rate since the Industrial Era and are showing no sign of slowing down. I think this is putting science on the fast track to be the leading voice to which the people listen to. There is a growing number of famous scientists in the world that is creeping towards the number of household politicians. Some, like Neil Degrass Tyson, have become celebrities and are looked to by younger generations more so than any senator. This, and the fact that space travel is becoming a more plausible reality in the near future, to which scientist will have to set the ground rules, is what’s creating a force more socially powerful than the government. This is an event that hasn’t happened since the Catholic Church outweighed the crown in the eyes of the people. The only solution for politicians to stay relevant for a much longer period would be to side with science and support their own government agencies focused on research. NASA has been surpassed by Elon Musk’s space program in terms of rocket manufacturing. This means that private industries now have the capability to generate revenue from research previously only thought could be done by funded programs.

Argument of the Final

I would like to try and explain my argument within my final project for my class. My project was a pretty simple Excel spreadsheet...
